Starting the food journey

So Little Miss P is going to be six months old this month! She's growing up sooo fast; sitting, babbling, smacking me in the face when I don't pay attention to her, giving kisses, and now eating real big girl food.

We had a little foray into the world of solids around 4 months when she had a growth spurt and I had some supply issues thanks to a trip. Simultaneously. However, that was a little earlier than I wanted her to start regularly eating solids, so we tapered that off once my supply came back.

Now, though, it is time.

Time to start eating for realsies.

So a fruitful day on Pinterest later, I set out to create homemade baby food goodness.

I'm just going to put it out there at the beginning. I'm not a Martha Stewart Mommy. I'm sure my kids will find out what chicken nuggets taste like in due time. I did drink caffeine while pregnant. I have only ever eaten organic food by accident. And Miss P has had formula when she needed it.

So, this is not going to be a crunchy granola, organic, purity-first type venture. Not that there is anything wrong with that. It just isn't me.

I'm also not much of an amateur foodie chef, despite my love for all shows cooking. My husband regularly gets spaghetti with canned sauce for dinner and feels lucky if it comes with grated cheese.

I am, however, a cheap Scottish-Jewish momma and the thought of shelling out mega bucks for those cute little pouches or jars of overpriced mush makes me feel sick. Besides, little things are cute, and so far making baby food is fun.

But it also needs to be easy for me to keep doing it. So this blog will be about my adventures in feeding up the baby on the cheap and easy, but still trying to keep it fun, healthy(ish), and adventurous.
